Since this page was done, there has been much more Hubbell history and information found which will make for a complete redesign of this page and section in the soon future. On
December 27th 1890 the ad shown below appeared in The Electrical
World Magazine. Not much is known about The Consolidated Electric
Manufacturing Co., and there are no patents assigned to it.
It may have been a short lived company or partnership between
Arnold B. Holmes of Boston and George F. Gale of Winthrop
Massachusetts. There are no individual patents assigned to
either person and only two other 1890 patents which contain
both Holmes and Gale as the inventors. The first patent is
for the socket pictured in the ad below patent No. 427,514
which was applied for Oct. 24th 1889 and approved on May 6
1890. Patent No. 431,141 was for an electric call box and
was applied for on Feb. 27 1890 and Approved on July 1 1890.
The last patent, No. 460,968 was for a fuse box that was applied
for on April 15 1890 and approved on October 13 1891.
